House with trees

Hi friends,

In my home town, kerala, each house will be surrounded by trees. We believe that our ancestors will be with us in the form of trees. In South India, you can see atleast one coconut tree in each house.

In Indian mythology, the coconut tree was created by the powerful sage Vishwamitra to prop up King Trishanku who was attempting to gain entry into heaven as a mortal but was thrown out by the gods.

Here is my quilled house with two little coconut trees.

Green paper - 3M

My little Ganesha

Little Ganesha - It was one of my pending project for a longtime.

Was thinking of gifts to gift a special person. Thought of many ideas, scratched my head and finally landed with 3D quilled Ganesha. As her favourite God is also Ganesha. I decided to gift her the same.

A little about Ganesha for my Foreign Friends:

Ganesha is also the destroyer of vanity, selfishness and pride. He is the personification of material universe in all its various magnificent manifestations. "All Hindus worship Ganesha regardless of their sectarian belief," says D N Singh in A Study of Hinduism. "He is both the beginning of the religion and the meeting ground for all Hindus.

Significance of the Ganesha Form:
Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition. The snake that runs round his waist represents energy in all forms. And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.

For More details about Ganesha, I have enclosed the wikipedia link here - Ganesha in wiki

Now choose what you want to put inside it. I have chosen the basic quilling techinques and sticked each shapes on the chart paper as below.

Punch two holes in the edge for the ribbon to run. Now tie it all together.
